ODBC

ODBC_server-alias

When defining multiple simultaneous ODBC connections in LISTSERV, you must specify a server name (or data source) for each connection. This server or data source name is used in the ODBC_DSN_server-alias, ODBC_UID_server-alias, and ODBC_AUTH_server-alias variables, which are used to identify the specific ODBC connection. The server or data source name entered here is whatever name you wish to assign to that particular DSN, but please note that when defining an alternate server, it is recommended that server_alias be defined as an alpha string as opposed to a numeric string, in order to avoid certain problems in some ODBC drivers. There is no character limit for the server_alias string, but for simplicity's sake it should not be overly long.

The default connection name is DEFAULT.

ODBC_DSN

The name of the ODBC DSN used to identify the ODBC database used for the DBMS features of LISTSERV.

ODBC_DSN=GREEN

When using DBMS lists under Windows with ODBC, a System DSN must be created in the ODBC32 interface to identify the ODBC database that will be used by LISTSERV for this purpose. The value of this parameter is identical to the name of the System Data Source that points to that database.

This variable should be set only if DBMS lists are to be used and a System DSN has been set up for that purpose. Otherwise the variable should not be set (and LISTSERV will not try to initialize any ODBC databases). Note that the variables ODBC_AUTH and ODBC_UID will also have to be set accordingly if you are connecting to an ODBC data source.

DBMS lists are not used by default.

ODBC_UID

The ODBC userid for accessing the ODBC database specified by the ODBC_DSN site configuration variable. Set only in conjunction with ODBC_DSN.

ODBC_UID=MYODBCID

ODBC_AUTH

The ODBC "authorization string" (sometimes called the "password" in vendor documentation) for accessing the ODBC database specified by the ODBC_DSN site configuration variable. Set only in conjunction with ODBC_DSN.

ODBC_AUTH=myodbcpassword
